Reply to Michael's Post: Cannot do any of the above because I cannot turn the ignition key in any direction. this is the problem. We need to get the ingition lock cylindar out so that we can replace it.

Our daughter went to the gas sation last night and after she pumped the gas she went to turn the car on and the key would not turn at all in any dierction. We brought her antohter ket to see if that was the problem and no luck with any extra keys. the steering whell is then locked in place and we are going no where. we need to get the igition lock out so that we can replace the part and that is the part that we cannot figure out because everything is locked up.

thanks waiting to hear

Reply to Michael's Post: Hi Michael, Thank you for your prompt reply. I will "accept" your answer to drill the lock retainer spring out but I won't have a special tool as indicated so I'll try to use tweezers or hemostats or such. This is ironically the same exact assembly as on our 93 Escort which I did back in '01. That one however I was able to rotate because it was broken where the cylinder transfer ti's rotation to the last coupling to the ignition switch. Thanks again. Dave
