mazda 626 dies wene kicking into passing gear

i have a 1993 mazda 626   with the 6 cylinder engine    has 61 thousand orginal miles just had timeing belt changed     now when   go to pass and if the car goes into passing gear the engine shuts off if i try and start it right away its like it ran out of gas, if i wait a min it will strart right up then runs fine till i kick it into passing gear   then it dies again   any help will be appreciated ..................

IT ALSO MAY BE A FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR IF IT IS THE PRESSURE WILL GO ALOT HIGHER AND STAY THERE UNTILL YOU RESTART THE CAR
