Question

I have a '91 Civic 2 Door Hatchback with 106,000

I have a '91 Civic 2 Door Hatchback with 106,000 miles. It's time to check out some wear and tear issues such as brakes, muffler, suspension, ball-bearings, ect. What are questions to ask to avoid unnecessary parts and labor? Any other advice?

REPLIED Check Mark

I would sugest replacing the timming belt for sure if it has not already been done if it brakes then it will bend the valves.Brakes , ask if the rotors can be turned or need to be replaced. suspension, check to see if there is any loose parts if they are not loose the they not need be replaced. I know it is a honda but if you take it to a local ford dealer and have your oil changed they will do a free 27 point inspection. This will tell you what needs to be done. But the timming belt yes. You can spend a little now or alot later when the belt breaks. I hope this helps

So far so good. I won't need an oil change for another 2,000 miles, so this leaves out the free 27 point inspection. From the response above, is this assuming that there are no tricks or guidelines to the muffler?

Are there any other questions I should ask regarding problems from basic wear and tear?

Is there anything that I should avoid: for example, common things mechanics may say I need done, or parts that need to be replaced that are unnecessary?

Thank you for your time!!!
