Nissan Clutch Cable

Sent to Car Experts September 21 05:31 PM

My clutch slips when I shift up, resulting in a loss of power for a moment until it engages the gear. It’s especially noticeable from 1st to 2nd gear. I have a 1994 Nissan Sentra. I’ve read about adjusting the clutch cable, and I know how to adjust, but nobody is clear on which way to adjust. Do I tighten or loosen the cable? I just need to buy some time before I get the whole clutch replaced.

When you adjust the cable you are only adjusting clutch pedel height and the engagement point of the clutch. Your problem is that the pressure plate is no longer making good contact with the clutch disk due to lose of friction material on the disk. There is no solution for that except replacement. The only way to buy time is to drive gently untill it fails.
