MY sunroof will not retract more that two inches. It just stops rock solid. Is there a way for me to check to see if something is blocking it?

1998 Mercedes-Benz e320 6 cyl

Already Tried:
I have tried removing the sun shade but I can't even do that without fear of ruining the shade.
