Question

need to know how to test the master switch and going down to the seat

Sent to Car Experts April 28, 2006 9:00 p.m.

I ran across this site and really need help on my power seat. I have a 1998 Oldsmobile Aurora that has the Heated Seat, Lumbar, Power for moving back of seat, seat itself as well as tilting of seat. I cannot move my seat in any postion nor the back of the seat. I have been trying to locate diagrams and testing information for my brother-in-law to repair but cannot find anything. Can you assist? Please reply at bobauie32@mchsi.com.           Thanks!!

Answer
Under the drivers seat there is what is called a POWER SEAT TRANSMISSION of which is comprised on 4 or 5 electric solenoids and several gears and cables. You have a choice of replacing the complete seat transmission or removing, disassembling it and replacing the faulty solenoids.

I do NOT know your mechanical ability IF you could tackle this kind of a project that would be about a 4 on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being extremly difficult and one being very simple.

Let me know what you would like to do as I can provide you with the removal and repair procedures with pictures.

However, You will need to contact me at:

onlineautohelp@msn.com

In order for me to send you some procedures, and pictures related to your problem, as this website is NOT mine and I am only a VOLUNTEER helping answer BASIC simple questions to those in need as this website does not allow pictures to be sent..

Please include all of the information, MAKE, YEAR, MODEL, and all necessary other information that you previously provided as well as the information that I just gave you when you contact me.

Already Tried:
Tried to test the master switch but do not know how the current flows on the wire or the color of each wire and what each wire operates. I have also checked the fuses and all are okay
