Dealership left oil out after servicing
Sent to Car Experts April 26 04:47 PM

My wife took our 2003 Infiniti G35 to have the 60,000 mile service. After the service was complete, she drove home 40 minutes in rush hour traffic. She told me the car was making a funny noise. There was loud knocking coming from the engine. I checked and there was no oil. I had it towed to the dealership. They said there was still 1 1/2 quarts in it, and they checked everything and it was fine.

My question - isn't there a substantial risk that damage occurred that is not detectable? Won't this cause a shortened engine life? Am I correct to insist that the engine be replaced? If so, I need some strong evidence to present to them that this has most likely caused long-term damage.
