I have a 2002 F250 Diesel. When you turn the key on, none of the warning lights come on. The truck will start but the instrument panel is dead, none of the gauges work and like I said the instrument panel warning lights don't come on. It does start but when you try to "give it the gas" you can push the pedal to the floor and all it will due is idle...
Help please!

Optional Information:

Reply to Fordanswerman's Post: yep. just happened all of a sudden. Started up fine, drove out the driveway. forgot something and went back to house. put in park. went in. came back out and when I put it in gear (which it does go into gear) it won't go because all it will do is idle. you can floor it and it won't increase the engine speed at all. The truck only has 50,000 miles on it.

Thanks.

I would look up under the dash for any bare wires or anywhere where the shifter can make contact with a wire loom at. Also look around the gas pedal area for and bare wires and where by pushing down on the pedal causes it to hit a wire loom. Wiggle the wires under while watching the dash to see if anything going on.

Anytime these diesels loose VREF power this is usually what happens. The cluster may be causing this or and shorted or open loom. It might even be a sensor shorted.

There is a possibility you could still be under the diesel warraty which is 5/100 miles. There is a $100 deductible which this covers all diesel parts includeing some wiring and sensors. So if you don't see anything obvious under the dash like I said earlier, then you might want to tow it to a dealer.

Reply to Fordanswerman's Post: -wiggled and checked wires to no avail.
-also disconnected both batteries to see if a "reboot" would work.
-also checked every fuse on the list that had to do with instrument panel.
-do you think it is a "bare wire" situation or could it be one of the computers? If it was a computer it would not start, right?I heard they can be like $2000...
