(Not a Car Question?)

I have a 2003 cavaler, just purchased from a dealer. Obviously, no Owner's manual was included. I need to get my rear seats down to take some large (long) items on a trip. I have searched all around the seats and can find no lever or release button. Am a bit timid about just yanking on it for fear of breaking something.
How do you get it to release?

Also, is there a way to lower the brake pedal? Everything else feels very comfortable, but, the brake seems very high.
