alternator or more?

hi, My lincoln town car (95) just stoped in the middle of the road on friday. The battery is fine I had it checked before it just stoped. The battery light came on and that is fine... but How do i know if its my alternator or a fuse or something. before it went off the internal panal flickered and when we stoped the car stoped... what should i do?
