I have a 1994 grand cherokee laredo and off and on ...

I have a 1994 grand cherokee laredo and off and on when i come to a stop and try to move it just sits their and hesiste for about 3-5 seconds. It eventually catches and i'm off praying it doesn't do it at the next stop. Just in the past few days it is doing the same and also when i decrease speed and let all the way off the accelarator coming to a stop it dies.   Please help diagnos
