Belt installation for 1997 Pontiac Grand Am SE 3.1.
Sent to Car Experts August 20 11:40 AM

I am trying to install a new Belt on my 1997 Pontiac Grand Am 3.1. I can't figure out which bolts I need to remove to thread the new belt properly.
Thanks
Jeff

I don't have a diagram of the belt routing on the grand am in particular. The 3.1 is a serpentine belt that is held tight by a spring loaded belt tensioner. I believe that you have to pull the bolts out of the front engine mount and raise the engine to remove and replace the belt. Hope this helps.

Rejected bestservices's Post. Reason Given: I need to know how to remove the bolts. Not raise the engine.

When I take out the "engine" bolts on the top. There is a bracket coming from the altenator to the engine bolts. There is some type of square nut on the bottom that hold the bracket to the engine bolt block. That is what I can not get separtated. Are you saying that I need to lift the whole engine to slide that pressure fitted connection apart.
thanks
Jeff
