2000 S - Series Saturn

Sent to Car Experts March 07 05:54 PM

I have a 2000 S - Series Saturn. The check engine light and brake light came on at the same time. I drove it an additional mile after the lights came on. What is this? Is it even safe to drive to a mechanics?

Hello

It may not be nothing to worry about. These lights will come on as an advanced warning to get your attention. The brake fluid could be low, a wheel sensor wire could have broke, the handbrake may be partially engaged. These and other reasons are why the lght may have come on.

Bottom line, take it to a Reputable Service Facility and let them check out the problem. It may something very simple.

Drive slowly! and Carefully until you have resolved this issue.

Reply to Dan's Post: Brake Fluid is fine, and the emergency break is not engaged. The Service light and the Brake system warning light came on simultaneously.

You asked if it is safe to drive to a mechanic, yes it is. Just drive carefully until it's checked out.

I used the handbrake and brake fluid as an example of minor problems. You won't know for sure what the problem is until a trained professional has had a chance to check it out.
