2000 ford mustang 3.8 engine fails to start right away like it should in certain ocasions it needs gas to fire up like the old cars then you can smell the crude gas once it starts.sometimes it will start just fine.A ford dealer had it for three days and all they said was that the car never showed the condition. The car was running fine till I requested new spark plugs and gas filter to be installed which they did.can there be any relation to it?

Thanks for the question!

I would take it back to the dealer if you smell raw gas. This is very dangerous. They might have not installed the fuel filter correctly.

Thanks

The raw smell only ocurs when the car hesitates to start and gas needs to be applied, only after it starts I can smell it.the car also starts normally with no smell of raw gas.I also mentioned that the dealer had the car for three days and they never had the condition that I describe or found anything wrong, unfortunatly I find myself out of town in business driving my car.sugestions?Thanx
