2001 FORD ESCORT 57000 MILES - WHEN STOPPED AT STOPLIGHT (WARM ENGINE), ENGINE LOPES ... +/- FEW RPMS FROM NORMAL IDLE...
IS THIS IN IGNITION SYSTEM ie PLUGS AND WIRES, OR IN EMMISSION SYSTEM - i DO HAVE A BAD OXYGEN SENSOR!

DID VISIBLE CHECK OF PLUG WIRES AND CONNECTIONS TO PLUGS.

One condition that a bad o2 sensor causes is erroneous idle. If you have a bad one I would start there first. IT could help with fuel economy also. The second thing is a vacuum leak may be present.
