a light on dash has been on for weeks ,sometimes you could turn switch and would not crank wouldnt do nothing at all .and now want do nothing wont crank at all ,i cut the switch on and shorted starter out and it cranked but would only run for 5 or 6 seconds and it would cut off like you had cut the switch off i done this 3 or 4 times ,i heard it could be the chip in the key

Already Tried:
manaully engaged starter,took bat.cables off trying to reset .checked fuses.
