Is it lose or can you just not figure out how to manuver it out of the gap. If it is still tight on the block check the new starter to make sure there is only two bolts, which I believe it is, and as long as there is not a cover holding it up all you need to do is give it a hit with a hammer to break it lose. It probably built up some rust or something and is just sticking to the block. Thanks for the question and please remember that the experts do not get paid unless you select accept.

Reply to ERIC KOHNKE's Post: it is loose I can move it up and down but can't pull it out from the block, does not feel like another bolt is holding it.it just had 2 bolt hole on the new starter
is there a bracket holding it in place where the gear is?? like I said it feels like it wants to come out but I can't see anything else holding it because its in a place where to can't really see it ,believe me it was a pain to just get the 2 bolts out and yes i did hit it with a hammer it is alittle away from the block but will not still come out

Did you remove the wires on the seloinde. If not sometimes these wires are pretty tight and leave no slck for pulling the starter out. After that the only other thing that really ever holds the starter in, which I do not think your vehicle has, would be a cover going over where the gear on the starter is. These covers somtimes sit into a groove on the starter. The only other thing I can think ofis are you sure that there is not smething in the way, like the radiator brace or something else, on the other side of the starter that is not allowing you to pull it back restricting your movement. Thanks for the question.
