Question

Ford engine

Sent to Car Experts February 22, 2006 8:06 a.m.

We had a new engine put in our Ford F350. The truck was having to run in passing gear all the time. The work was done 350 miles from home. When we got back to our home town we took the truck back into the shop. We were told the timing was never set. My qustion is what kind of damage and wear and tear could this have caused on the new engine and our transmission?

Optional Information:
1993 Ford F350 460

Thanks for your question.

Did you have any overheating at all?

Thanks

Will this cause alot of wear on the new engine or on the transmission- driving without the timing set for 350 miles or more?

REPLIED Check Mark

Well if it didn't overheat you will probably be alright. This is a pretty tough engine. I've seen these put up with a lot before they gave up.

As long as it runs ok now. I wouldn't be too concerned about it. But I would call the place and let them know about this whole thing though.

Thanks
