what are symptoms of blown head gasket on 1996 Ford Windstar?
Can some of the symptoms be related to other problems, ie,
radiator, heat pump? I'm trying to figure out ways to fix van w/o doing headgasket.
Thank you.

Thanks for your question.

Symptoms: overheat, no cabin heat, thick white smoke out the tailpipe, unexplained coolant loss.

If you go to NAPA they have what is called Block Check. It is a kit that checkes for carbon monoixde in the radiator.

Thanks

Reply to Fordanswerman's Post: The radiator was replaced with new one and the heating gauge seems to be normal. There is still white smoke from exhaust and engine light is on.
Do you have addl info for this?

Reply to david's Post: There's very little white smoke, much much less since new radiator. The heat gauge is staying in middle of gauge., whereas it was overheating before the radiator replacement. There is no cabin heat.

are you seeing a loss of coolant... if you don't want to replace head gasket you might get away with using a radiator sealant like Alma seal i have seen it work with a small head gasket leak

good luck
