Question

transmission problems

Sent to Car Experts February 11, 2006 7:25 p.m.

The automatic transmission in my 89 Celica GT was slipping in drive gear, so I took it to a transmission specialist. They said it needs a rebuilt one: cost $ 900.00. Is this a fair price? Should I beware of added costs when I go pick it up? Is a new torque converter normally included in this price? Is the differential normally also bad? Any other advice?

Thanks

Does this price include labor if it does its a very good price !

Does this price include tax(added cost) and shop supplies probably not.

Ask them if it comes with converter if not buy one its worth the insurance.

The diff usually comes as an Assembly if you buy a trans but will be reconditioned as needed if rebuilt, The answer after all that is no the diff. is not usually bad. Here is a link that may give you a rebuild trans price. If needed. http://www.jasperengines.com/racing.htm Hope this helps. Please click accept for me. ThanksImages available only to Customers.
