I am trying to get a 1997 Honda started after replacing the steering column in it, I have found that I have power to the injectors, have checked all the fuses, what I need to know is if the immobilizier system needs to be turned off or is this the problem> I ran the tests on the immobilizer system and passed on them all altho the light on the instrument cluster which looks like a key flashes 6 or 7 times after I turn off the key after the test. Is that normal for the test? Does the new steering cloumn effect the immobilizer system preventing me from starting the car? I did not keep the old steering column as it had been damaged from thiefs. Can this system be bypassed if I need to do that to get the car to start? What suggestions do you have to help me with this car???

Reply to Marc's Post: does this mean that if I can crank it then it will not start because of the Immobilizer system? This has been a help in clearifing what it is and how it could effect me but I still do not know what could be causing me to not get this car started. Any ideas?

Okay, answer me this riddle;

I have changed the steering column with one from a salvage car, the engine will crank, I have power to the injectors, I have fuel thru the fuel rail, I do not have a ground signal from the ECM to activate the injectors. NOW, after saying all of that, does the immobilizer system have to be coded to the ECM to get the ECM to ground the injectors? Does the immobilizer system tell the ECM it is ok to crank the engine and it is ok to run the fuel pump but it is not ok to fire the injectors, or does the ECM make all these decisions??????
That is my question, Please answer.... or do I just take this car to Honda to repair???
