I have a 96 9000 saab, just bought it , I was told the radio needed the security code when I got it. I got the code but all I can get out of the radio is the backlight behind the buttons. I can not turn it on to type in the code. Does this sound likje it needs to be repalced if so do I need to purchase a factory tape deck to be able to use the 6 disc cd in the rear. thanks

Usually security radios only allow you 3 chances to enter the correct security code. After the 3rd time, if you dont put the correct code in, it is locked out and you need to send the radio out to the manufacturer for them to unlock the radio so you can use it.It is it's own type of theft deterrent system.If you dont have the right code, it wont work at all after 3 attempts.
