Question

Fuel filter futility 1997 Ford Thunderbird V-8

Sent to Car Experts February 01, 2006 6:24 p.m.

Can someone explain procedure for replacing the fuel filter on a 1997 Ford Thunderbird. I had one side of the old filter disconnected (rear line to fuel tank}. Couldn't get the other side disconnected. I pulled on it but didn't want to harm fuel line. It seems like there's some kind of fitting on it because pulling on filter would not release.

Optional Information:
1997 Ford Thunderbird LX 4.6L V8

Thanks for your question. That may need a special release tool you can pick up at your local parts store. It goes inside the line fitting a releases the spring tangs and then you pull the line away from the filter.

Thanks
