i have a 1988 cavalier. having a problem with it only starting when it is cold and damp out. if it is warm outside it woin't start if its cold out it starts i am stumped can you suggest anything?

new starter checked for loose wires

Do you mean the starter won't crank it over or that it cranks but doesn't fire up?
