My ABS light is on when I am in forward gear and not in reverse, why.

When I start and I have to put the car in reverse gear the ABS light on the dash board will not come on, but one I commence to move forward the light come on, why?

2000 Ford Winstar 3.8

Already Tried:
I ran a diagnostic test and I was informed that the batter was supplying more current then required, I bought a new battery and tried that didn't work. Since then I have not done anything else.
