Question

98 Ford Windstar indicator lights flashing

Sent to Car Experts January 12, 2006 6:30 p.m.

I have a 98 Ford Windstar, while driving, many indicator lights will flash on and off sporatically. These lights include: windshield washer fluid light, no seatbelt light, ABS light. Also, if you have the interior light on while driving and apply the brake, the light will go out until the brake is released. What could be causing all of this? Thanks - Customer (name blocked for privacy)

Thanks for your advise. I moved some wires around and couldn't simulate the problem. I did find out that I can make it happen while changing gears. The windshield fluid light, door ajar light and dome light all come on when going into neutral or changing through gears. Also, I noticed that while changing from reverse to drive, there is a significant amount of movement with the engine. Is that normal? I think I'm just going to take it in. It's just scary when you don't know a mechanic that you trust. Recommend anyone in Tucson. Thanks again! - Todd

ACCEPTED Check Mark

Sorry I don't but I would check the better business listings and ask some friends. Unfortunately there are a lot of crooked ones. You could try connecting a temporary ground from the engine to the body and see if it clears up.

Hope this helps, if so please accept.
