Question

no acceleration

Sent to Car Experts January 10, 2006 1:02 a.m.

On a 91 Ford F150 5.0. The engine died while a friend was taking off, turned over ,would start.I checked it out no spark.Cap and rotor were original @ almost 200k miles so I figured it popped the ign, mod. It did.Replaced cap, rotor and mod. It started but ran like fuel filter was bad. Checked ok.It run but wouldn't get over 20-25. Drove it 6 miles to house and it was hot, boiling over.Exhaust got so hot it melted the plastic fender wells on passenger side.I figured it was a stopped up cat,or muffler.Cut exhaust loose. Still runs the same.Won't take fuel, seems like no spark advance maybe, full throttle is barely hits2000 rpm.Checked TPS ,it's ok.Great spark, good fuel and flow.Could something else have gotten zapped when the Mod popped? Thanks in advance for info. Dana

Is it under acceleration that it runs the worst and will improve if you let off the throttle?
