i have a honda crv wheel drive automatic engine i am

Sent to Car Experts January 04 08:57 PM

I HAVE A 98 HONDA CRV 4WHEEL DRIVE AUTOMATIC 2.0 ENGINE. I AM EXPERIENCING A FLAT SPOT UPON LIGHT ACCELERATION. THERE ARE NO CODES PRESENT,CAR RUNS WELL WHEN PUT UNDER FULL ACCELERATION. I UNPLUGGED THE TPS AND DROVE IT AND IT SEEMED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD BY HONDA THAT THE TPS WAS NOT AVAILABLE ITSELF, THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PURCHASE A THROTTLE BODY. I SAID YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING. CAR HAS A NEW CAT CONVERTER ON IT, NEW FUEL FILTER, 136000 MILES. ANY SUGGESTIONS ABOUT A TPS OR ANOTHER POSSILIBILITY? CAR PERFORMS BEST WHEN COLD. THANKS FOR THE HELP. DHAWLEY,CARROLLTON,GA

Optional Information:
1998 Honda CRV 2.O

Already Tried:
NEW CAT. CONV, NEW FUEL FILTER, NO CODES, TPS VOLTAGE IS WITHIN SCANNER RANGE, RUNS WELL WITH TPS UNPLUGGED, HAVE DRIVEN WITH PRESSURE REGULATOR PLUGGED OFF, SAME PROBLEM, FLAT SPOTS AND HESTITATION WHEN HOT, CURED BY FULL THROTTLE RESPONSE.

Hi Georgia friend, I would suggest trying an aftermarket source for the tps. Have you tried calling autozone or advance auto parts? If they don't have it I live in Austell, GA and have some hook ups with the Honda folks and can get a nice disount that I would pass on to you.

Reply to kat's Post: I HAVE ALREADY STATED IN MY QUESTION THAT THE TPS IS UNAVAILABLE FROM HONDA, AND I HAVE CHECKED WITH SEVERAL AFTERMARKET PARTS SOURCES PRIOR TO CHECKING WITH HONDA. THANKS ANYWAY
