Question

sfifting P to D interlocked

Sent to Car Experts December 28, 2005 1:50 a.m.

I have a 1995 Nissan Maxima GLE (Auto), recently I got a problem that I can't shift the stick from Park position to D smoothly after ignition, I have to push the button many times then can get it shifting to D (less than 10 % of trial can make it work). I have checked the manu, it said this may happened when stop light failed to work, but I checked the light it work well. I also try to follow the instruction from manu (turn the keyi nto ACC, then shift) but it not work all the time. How to solve?

Hi! kat,
I had gotten this information from other website before, but I am not sure if tis happen to my car. I was trying to take out the shift assembly but seems it not as easy as to do it (I couldn't get the repair manual of 1995 Nissan maxima). Can you figure out how to dis-assemble the shift assembly? (I had dis-assemble two screws from he shifter cover near back seats, but it seems a big piece connected together). Does any screws on other site? I couldn't find it. Thanks
