How to remove a dash from a 93 Ford Tempo GL

I have removed all the bolts and screws that I can see and get to. The dash still is attched and i have no information on how to remove/install a dash of my 93 Ford Tempo.

1990-94 Models

See Figure 2

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  2. Disconnect the speedometer at the transaxle. This is necessary for additional cable length needed to remove the cluster from the dash panel.

  3. Remove the lower cluster finish panel.

  4. Remove the upper and lower retaining screws to the steering column reinforcement.

  5. Remove the speed control module, if equipped.

  6. Loosen, but do not remove the 2 nuts and bolts retaining the steering column to the support bracket.

  7. Remove the instrument cluster by unfastening the upper retaining screws, speedometer cable and connectors.

  8. Remove the radio, harness and antenna.

  9. Identify, tag and disconnect all vacuum hoses and electrical connectors, including heater, A/C control cables and radio antenna cable.

  10. Remove the steering column-to-support bracket retaining screws and nuts.

  11. Carefully, pry open the steering column shaft area of the clamp to disengage the shaft.

  12. Depress the sides of the glove box bin and remove the glove box assembly.

  13. Disconnect all vacuum hoses and electrical connectors, including, heater, A/C control cables and radio antenna cable.

  14. Remove the steering column support bracket retaining nut.

  15. Remove the speakers and grilles.

  16. Remove the instrument panel tubular brace retaining screw.

  17. Remove the upper and lower instrument panel-to-cowl retaining screws and remove the instrument panel from the vehicle.

To install:

  1. While holding the instrument panel close to the installed position, push the instrument wiring harness and connectors through the dash panel. Secure the dash panel to the cowls using the retaining screws.

  2. Install the panel tubular brace using the retaining screws.

  3. Install the instrument cluster, speedometer cable and electrical connectors.

  4. Position the radio, and connect the wire harness and antenna.

  5. Connect all vacuum hoses and electrical connectors, heater, A/C control cables and radio antenna cable.

  6. Install the glove box, speakers and grilles.

  7. Raise the steering column into position and engage the lower shaft to the intermediate shaft. Install the clamp bolt and nut.

  8. Install the speed control module, if equipped.

  9. Install the upper and lower retaining screws to column reinforcement.

  10. Install the lower cluster finish panel.

  11. Install the steering column cover retaining screws and remove the cover.

  12. Connect the speedometer at the transaxle.

  13. Connect the negative battery cable.

  14. Test all electrical accessaries
