i just changed my intake manifold and carb combination on ...

i just changed my intake manifold and carb combination on my 400 small block chevy. i had a victor jr high rise with a 670 street avenger from holley that was poor combo i changed to an edelbrock performer (permastar Finish!)with a tricked out 750 holley with a custom job. i chANGED EVRYTHING OUT and IM SURE OF MY WORK the seal should be good on that manifold the only thing thats got me worried is a few things how to tune my carb-i know theres a factory setting for the fuel flow and all but my biggest worry is that i had to take my distributor out starting with the cap and then i removed with ease im sure i moved it around a lot ...i was able to put it back in i just dont know if i did it right i forgot to mark all the contact areas on the distributo and now im afraid to try and start it i nned help i will pay here but not to some mechanic whos gonna charge melike 25 dollars an hour just to tinker with it i know it can be done at my own house i just dont know how!! please help!

We can get it close enough to fire up. (you may be close enough already) Make sure the engine is at top dead center on the compression stroke. Then look at the rotor and make sure the electrode is pointing toward the number 1 plug lug on the cap. Put it all together and fire it up, then you'll need a timing lite to get the fine adjustment done. Good Luck

by hand ? how would i do that ? to turn it over once its hhoked up to the transmission is a little hard

i tried pointing the rotor to the number one terminal and had a little trouble will this be easier once im at tdc?

what about me adjusting the distributor it self?
i forgot to mention that today i tried starting it up and it made a VERY loud and almost thunderous gunshot sound i mean this sound was like a jet punching the envelope!doing mach something i scared the locals... what could that have been?
