i have a mercedesbenz c the speedometer had started

I have a 1995 Mercedes-Benz C280. The speedometer had started working intermittently about 3 weeks ago, now it does not work at all. Under these circumstances, is it likely to need to be replaced or can it be repaired. With labor costs close to $90/hr, what would a estimates likely be for repair or replacement? Thanks
