1999 Pontiac Grand Prix Stalls while driving

Sent to Car Experts December 16, 2005 1:22 p.m.

1999 Pontiac Grand Prix stalls after driving about 5 miles. Quite frequent in cold weather. Previously resided in Texas and stalling was termporarily corrected by repairing a "switch" in the transmission. Car survived the summer and a cross country drive. Arrived in New Jersey and stalling began again. Just had the ignition switch changed car now stalls again. Please Help

I would check the fuel pressure regulator. It is round, about a quater size and has a vaccum line going to it. If the regulator is leaking gas than it can cause this problem. Pull off the vaccum line that goes to the regulator. Be absolutly sure there is no gas in the vaccum line. If there is, the diaphram has ruptered and there is gas entering the engine that is not accounted for and the regulator will need to be replaced!

Thank you. The dealership has had the car for about 2 weeks now refusing to release it until the problem is found. I am taking my input from Justanswer and giving it to them for reference.
