dogde stratus battery indicator comes on

bought battery brand new about 4 mos ago. battery indicator comes on when riding. no other idications. when car is turned off and turned back on (no matter how long the car is left off) indicator does not come on right away. takes about 10-15 mins of driving before it comes on.
