how do I check and change the heater door on a 1997 Ford Explorier. I have no control of the heat or cold. I know it is not the core.

Already Tried:
I hear the motor run when I turn the control knob but the heat in not getting through. This past summer thbe heat was always on and not the cold is always on? I checked the control.
