I have a 1990 Sierra, Oldsmobile. We use it for a paper route, so alot of start and stopping . The car runs good for about 45 mins. and after we deliver by start stopping, we have about 1/4 mile to go before the next stop. As I brake, the car dies on me and I can start it again, but as I put it in drive, it stalls. I then have to sit for about 5 - 10 min. before I start it and it will be fine again. It is fuel injected also.   We've changed the gas filter, gas line, and thermostat. Any ideas as to what is happening here?

You will need to have your fuel pressure checked first of all.If it has been a while I would advise changing plugs, wires ect. "general tune up" Get back with me if this does not resolve your problem.

A experianced mechanic who is very familiar with these cars has suggested unplugging the lock-up converter on your transmission. This may be your problem.

I can't accept your answer until I talk with my husband about it. He will be home tomorrow morning.

Reply to john's Post: We will try this. It killed again at the exact same place of our paper route! Unbelieveable......I'll get back with you tomorrow to see if this works.
