Perhaps it is getting too much air into the carburator. Air and fuel are mixed within the carburator to achieve the mixture required to run the engine. Try adjusting the setting and test the results. To do this there should be a screw within easy access around the carburator assembly. Depending on the make and model of carburator it is usually located on the side of the unit. While doing this it is a good idea to check all fluid levels and ensure the sparkplugs and distributor is in check and working properly. You may obtain a sparkplug spacer key at most retail outlets and autoparts stores/shops. After completing the above if you still have problems simply come back and describe what was done and the results.

You did not mention that you had already attempted adjustments. And I failed to ask. I am sorry about that, my fault entirely. The shop is the best idea because they can run full diagnostics on the vehicle to determine its fault. The best of luck to you.
