Under the hood on the firewall passenger side of the car.

1990-96 Vehicles

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

  2. For 3.1L engines, perform the following:

    1. Remove the serpentine drive belt.

    2. Remove the alternator from the vehicle.

  3. Detach the electrical connection(s) from the blower motor.

  1. Disconnect the motor cooling tube.

  2. Remove the motor retaining bolts/screws, then remove the motor and fan assembly.

On 1991-96 models, the blower motor and fan is serviced as an assembly.

  1. If necessary, remove the nut from the blower motor shaft, then separate remove the fan from the motor.

To install:

  1. Position the fan onto the blower motor shaft, then install the retaining nut.

  2. Install the blower motor assembly, then secure with the retaining screws.

  3. Connect the motor cooling tube.

  4. Attach the electrical connection(s) to the blower motor.

  5. On vehicles equipped with the 3.1L, perform the following:

    1. Install the alternator.

    2. Install the serpentine drive belt.

  6. Connect the negative battery cable, then check for proper blower motor operation.
