My 2001 Grand Prix has the 3.1 v6. I have a frequent but intermitten problem starting the engine. I can hear the fuel pump running when the ingition switch is turned to the maximum just short of engaging the starter. The battery & starter are good. I thought possibly the fuel filter was at fault and replaced it. On those occassions when it does start, it seems to be after it has had time to cool down and once started the engine runs good without any signs of a problem. Can you suggest what to look for?

You are going to have to check for spark, fuel pressure and injector pulse during the failure that will lead me in the correct diagnostic direction.
