My 89 Camry Automatic Delux's Trans. Shit stuck in
Sent to Car Experts October 26 01:10 PM

My 89 Camry Automatic Delux's Trans. Shit stuck in park, back lights are ok but the brake lights are not working when brake padle is depressed, and also the cruise control stops working. Is it problem with Stoplight switch? If so how to remove the dash and fix it? Or else what could be the problem?

Sounds like it. There is a brake light switch on the brake pedal mechanism. Should have power going into it and power going through it, when the pedal is depressed. You can check it with a test light. The wiring to the switch may be broken and need repaired, fuse replaced, or the switch may be sticking and can removed and inspected/replaced.Cruise can be related to this problem.

Reply to Gene's Post: can you explain me how to remove the dash below the stearing. I tried to remove 4+1 screws. Is there more required to be removed? Where is the fuse that is to be replaced for it? Is the shift stuck in park related to this?

You should be able to see the brake switch on the pedal without removing the lower dash panel. The fuse is located in the fuse block labeled STOP.The brake switch tells the shift interlock mechanism to release the shifter out of park.
