99 dodge caravan, 94k miles. On hot humid days after driving around for about an hour. Van sputters and engine quits. after about a 15 minutes rest. Van starts smell rich exhausest and there is small sputtering back fires. Took it to dodge dealer they said fuel injectors were leaking replaced all injectores and up stream o2 sensor. a week later same condition same symtom. replaced downstream 02 sensor. Week later same thing with conditions and driving time again Van stalls sputters and quites untill things cool down. I am leaning toward a fuel pump problem but why would this only happen on days when the outdoor temp is above 80*
Could I have a computer problem when it gets above 80*

please help and thanks for listening!

You need to first test a few functions during the failure.

1) Test for spark at the plug end of the wire using a spark tester.
2) Test for injecter pulse using a small bulb called a noid light.
3) Use a fuel pressure gauge to test for correct fuel pressure.

Once you have determined which of these functions has dropped out,
you will know which system is having the problem.

Here's what the noid light looks like.

Reply to Hammer Time's Post: The tough part is that after the Van settles down it runs correctly. therefore, when fule pressure is measured it will read properly or the van would not run at all. I wish the darn thing would just quit and stay that way so the diagnosis would be easier. So should I still insist to my mechanic that he checks the fuel pressure?

continued from first reply....
All of these test that were recommended would only suface as a problem if they were checked while the van is expericeing the problem. once the van settles all funtions operate properly.

Is this a test that my mechacanic should install for me to read the data or guage when problem occurs. That was one of his main concerns was not being able to re-inact the same condition as this problem indicates

I gave you my method of doing it. He has his own (or lack of). he has to be willing to put that much effort annd time into finding the problem. Many shops won't do that. They can charge you for time spent doing this also.
