I just swapped a B16A2 into a 95 dx and everything works fine except for the charging system. My gauges would go up and down like crazy and that happened before and i needed a new alternator so i had this one rebuilt, but it didn't seem to work. The battery light is now on and will not charge the battery while running. I charged it all night but by the end of the day it is dead. The alternator belt is tight as well. Do you have any idea what could be the problem?

REPLIED Check Mark

Need to test the altenator circuit and it's output. Verify you are getting power to the altenator. You can have the altenator bench tested to eliminate a problem with the vehicles wiring.

I already did that. I stated in my question that i had my alternator rebuilt and tested so that doesn't help me. That's what i'm confused about because i have done that and there are still problems

I saw that, I said you may want to have it bench tested and make sure it is working properly off your car. Has it?

ACCEPTED Check Mark

I would tell you that the battery indicator light being on is usually an indiciation of a problem with the diode trio in the altenator itself, or the wiring going from the battery, to the altenator and back to the gauge. Possible bad ground or loose ground can cause gauges to sweep and act funny.I would check all the wiring for any damage at the altenator and all chassis grounds. Next would entail continuity checks of the harness from each end of the circuit.
