I have a '92 Toyota celica gt coupe (2 door). The power antenna does not raise or lower, just motor makes noise for a few seconds then stops. I went to Toyota parts ,explained what was going on. They gave me an antenna w/cable (plastic)- said this always fails. Just stick it in and turn on the ignition. Well there is more to it than that. The cable must attatch to some reversing mechanism for up/down. HOW CAN i FIX THIS?

ACCEPTED Check Mark

That long plastic tail gets fed into the motor and the motor uses that to wind it in and out. You first have to remove the old one and then feed it in with the key already on and when you shut it off, it will begin to retract the line in. You may have to repeat that a couple times to get it all the way in.

Does the antenna and cable just pull out without loosening anything?

There is an antenna lockdown nut that holds it in place. It will require removal before pulling out the old antenna mast and installing the new one.
