I have a Merc Topaz 1985. Presently there is no spark that is making it to the spark plugs. check the ignition coil to dist. and no spark. Checked the MFI module (on the dist.) and starter relay and both are fine. The map sensor was replaced two years ago when I had a starting problem.
I disconected the map sensor and for some reason it started. reconnected the map sensor and started. I started it every few days for a week. So last Saturday went to start it so as to get it smogged and it has the same problem, no spark to distributor.
What else can be wrong?

thanks

You need to allso check for injecter pulse with a noid light (shown below)DURING THE FAILURE to determine why there is no spark.

Just curious. How did you test the ignition module?

HI

First a correction. I called the module a MFI but it's TFI.
Both the TFI and ignition module I took to Auto Zone and they performed the test. Both indicated they were fine. I even bought a new ignition module and it did not solve the problem.
I must admit you lost me with the "injector pulse". Can not find this in my manual. Where would it be located?
I'm an OK back yard machinic but will admit electrical problems are my weak point.

Appreciate your help.
