1994 mozda 2300 pic.up 2.3 engine wants to start but will not catch.fire is in the wires. new fuel pump&filter

I would say first check the timing marks on the timing belt.

If you find the line up OK, go back to the basics.

You need to first test a few functions during the failure.

1) Test for spark at the plug end of the wire using a spark tester.
2) Test for injecter pulse using a small bulb called a noid light.
3) Use a fuel pressure gauge to test for correct fuel pressure.

Once you have determined which of these functions has dropped out,
you will know which system is having the problem.

Reply to Hammer Time's Post: the fuel pressure is fine. the fire is fine.the engine wants to start. when you press the accelorater when trying to start the engine it almost like its flooding. when you relise the key engine trys to spit back.

What is the fuel pressure? Does it have injecter pulse? Is it getting spark at the plugs?
