Question

My 1998 Camry gas cover is not opening. What should I do?

Sent to Car Experts September 18, 2005 12:59 p.m.

I am not able to open the gas cover of my 1998 Camry. I know I cannot repair myself, but just I would like to know how much it will cost me if I take to Midas or any other shop.

Thanks for your advice

REPLIED Check Mark

I assume you mean the access door to the gas cap and not the cap itself. If you go into the trunk and pull back the trim on the side that the gas filler is on, you should be able to see the back of the door and manually release the latch.

ACCEPTED Check Mark

That just depends on what's stopping it from opening. It may be just an adjustment or it may need a new latch or cable. The labor is not much either way and you would have to price the parts fom the dealer. They are the only ones that sell those particular parts.
