what engine is in the truck? 4.3L V6 or 5.7L. V8.
how many miles on odometer?
when was last tune-up? ie...plugs, wires, or cap and rotor.
the check valve is actually a "pulsator", which is used only to quit the vibrations of the fuel pump.
did you replace the wires from the fuel pump to the base of the sending unit, when you replaced the fuel pump?

Reply to Chris's Post: hello chris.the engine is a 5.7L v8.truck has about 80.000.truck just had a complete tune up since it has been not running right hoping that that might be the problem.did not help though.yes i did replace wires on fuel pump to base of sending unit.also disconnected fuel line from tank and installed elec.inline fuel pump into different container to try to bypass fuel tank, but the truck would not start without a prime and ran just as rough and would not idel.we also replaced fuel lines, return lines.and char.canister line.the injecters are just dribbling very small amount of fuel out when running.a couple of times they were shooting good fuel source (spray)and it would run for about 10 to 15 min. then stop like it ran out of gas.some times it would start back on its own and others it needed to be primed.hope this info helps.THANK YOU BILL

on the passenger side near the back of the throttlebody (TB) is the IAC, idle air control valve. it's a round black cylinder about an inch in diameter and 1 1/2" long, with a wire plug-in and a hex base. unplug the IAC and unscrew it (counter-clockwise) from the TB. make sure the pintle valve is still attached to the IAC. when cleaning the pintle valve do not rotate it, if you do, you will throw it out of calibration and have to go through a relearn procedure. using a good throttlebody cleaner,(not carb. cleaner) spray out the air passage in the TB. you may want to place a rag at the base of the TB to soak up the gunk that will wash back out. i have found that the best way is to soak the passage and walk away for a couple minutes, giving the cleaner a chance to soak in and break up the gunk. repeat this 6-8 times.
i own two GM products, a 97' C1500 and an 89' Caprice. i have to clean out the IAC about once a year on the 97' (61K miles)and about every 3 months on the 89' (150K).
hope this helps to solve your problem, good luck.
