1995 blazer won't start without a shot of fuel

Sent to Car Experts September 13 11:46 AM

1995 BlaZER 4.3 WON'T START. Will only start when I put fuel in the trottle. When I turn key on Fuel pressure goes to about 60 lbs but bleeds off quickly. Replaced fuel pump, and filters. Starts and runs ok when primed but after I turn off it will not restart.

This could be caused by a vacum leak causing the mixture to be too lean to start. I would check all vacum lines and rubber caps on vacumm ports for cracks and to make sure all are connected. If this isn't the problem use a propane tourch with out flame and go around the intake area with engine running . If the rpm picks up at a certian point you have a vacumm leak there.

Hope this helps, if so an accept would be appreciated.

Reply to Firsthogman's Post: Sounds like a very good solution. Could you please point me to a place on the engine to start checking the vacum lines? I can't even tell which is a vacum line.
Thanks

If you need a shot of fuel to get the vehicle started you answered part of your own question. There is a fuel problem Blazers are noted for fuel regulator problems If the regulator is tarnished chances are you dont have a leak but if you see a clean rim around it then a leak it is. This would cause hard starting. Although vacume leaks are a major cause of engine problems I dont think this is the problem in your case
