illumination, brake lights, trouble shoot

brake lights don't illuminate when brake pedal is pressed. brake fuse ok. bulbs checked ok. what else can i check? or whats up w/ 1997 astro awd van?

Disconnect the connector at the brake light switch located above the brake pedal.Jump across the wires and see if the brake lights come on.If they do the switch is bad or misadjusted.If they don't the turn signal switch in the column is the most likely suspect.It would be wise to make sure there is power at the switch also.

turns out to be cruise control relay and brake relay tied together under dash/steer column with two switches.(according to computer) cruise control shorted out switch tied somehow(?)to brake light switch/relay.this was problem. but will give credit for close approx.
