I would ask him to see any factory recommendations for this work. If he has any it might be the only route you can take. If he can't or won't produce any I would be suspicious of his motives.

Happy to be of service.

Hope this helps, an accept would be appreciated.

Reply to Firsthogman's Post: Is it possible to clean the turbo? If it recommended to reroute the crankcase ventilation would not Saab have sent a notice to owners and should it not be their responsibility? My warrenty ran out in June 05 evev though I only have 39500 miles on the car!

My warrenty has just ran out in June 05 even though I only have 39500 miles on car. I there was a defect in the crankcase ventilation and needs to be rerouted should Saab have notified owners?

The turbo can be cleaned but in all my years working on diesel tractors I never saw one that it was worth it to do so. Most of the time the factory won't send a notice to the owner unless it is a saftey issue. Performance issues usually go to the dealer. Some times if the milage isn't to far over the dealer can still do it under warranty if he wants to.

Good luck and thanks.

I have heard of the crankcase problems too, but my question, are you consuming any oil?

I am using possibly half a quart every oil change. I change the oil every 3000 miles (only synthetic used). What have you heard about the problem?

Too Auto mech, i agree, and give him credit, but engines will loose up to 1 qt per changed, caused by wear, risidue leaks, the extreme of what was recommended so too much, do as he said adout checking warranty, and get the field repair on the cs vent system done, if its determined turbo is bad, replace it,if what tech was saying about pulling oil into combustion chamber was true ,you would be losing a lot more oil, check another dealer, or foreign repair shop. take care
